VISION

Sometimes vision is blurry. Sometimes it tells you more that way. Lepus is an experiment in vision. A collective pursuit of how we perceive, what we can’t explain, and why we care to know. It begins with cameras.

cv

Lepus CV is the first full-featured camera model developed under the Lepus project, serving as the foundational prototype for all future iterations. “CV” stands for Computer Vision, reflecting its integration with machine learning algorithms to explore how machines perceive and manipulate visual data.

hex

Lepus HEX is a six-sided camera with a lens and a screen on each face—front, back, left, right, top, and bottom. During operation, the user can only view the live feed from the screen facing them, which displays the view from the camera on the opposite side. The other five perspectives remain hidden.

When the shutter is pressed, all six lenses capture an image simultaneously. In playback, each image is revealed only on the screen directly opposite its lens.

Model V

Model V

Lepus V is a virtual camera built to operate inside a VR environment—an instrument for photographing simulated worlds. This model emerged from a personal dissonance: the unsettling shift from optical viewfinders to digital ones. While digital screens offer convenience and functionality, they sever a vital link between the photographer and reality. Unlike the glass clarity of an optical viewfinder, the digital feed is a simulation—a screen showing what the sensor sees, not what you see.

ABOUT US

Lepus belongs to no one,  and everyone.
We are building tools to explore the unspoken together.

Lepus is a speculative design collective exploring the nature of vision through tools, experiments, and shared inquiry. Rooted in curiosity, Lepus creates instruments—starting with cameras—not to document reality, but to question how we perceive it. The project is less about products and more about processes: processes of seeing, framing, misinterpreting, and understanding.

Built on human experience and shaped by community, Lepus reimagines communicational media as something fluid, participatory, and never fully knowable. Its tools—such as Model CV, HEX, and V—are not answers, but provocations.

If you have ever wondered what “vision” really means —
this is your place.
