For a world that doesn’t exist

MODEL V

Model V is a physical camera built within a virtual world.

It exists at the threshold between simulation and sensation, probing the unstable boundary between what is rendered and what is felt. By placing a tangible instrument inside an intangible environment, Model V challenges the divide between screen and soul, asking: When everything is virtual, what does it mean to perceive?

MODEL V

CONCEPT

Model V is an instrument designed to test the nature of truth.

As a camera that exists only within a digital world, it turns photography into both a technical gesture and a spiritual question. What unsettled its creator most in the transition from optical to digital wasn’t resolution—it was the disappearance of the viewfinder’s perceived truth.

In an optical viewfinder, light enters through glass; you believe you see the world as it is. In an electronic viewfinder, you see only a screen. You are, undeniably, making decisions based on a simulation.

Model V embraces this discomfort. It turns the metaphor literal: a screen within a screen, a camera whose reality was never there to begin with.

Built in virtual. Capturing digital. Projecting back to reality. If we’ve been photographing simulations all along—Model V simply removes the mask.

Even to take it a step further: is that optical world itself truly real?
